Solutions · ARIA Policy
Bring policy context and review steps into one workflow.
ARIA Policy is for underwriting and policy operations teams. It prepares submissions for review, screens them against your appetite guide, and pulls together quote and bind readiness so an underwriter can make the call. Your policy administration system still rates, binds, and issues.
The work it supports
Underwriters often spend the first part of every review collecting facts, checking appetite, and chasing missing information. ARIA Policy prepares that groundwork with sources attached, so the underwriter can start from a cited recommendation instead of a blank file.
Policy workflows in the current product build
In current product build| Workflow | What ARIA prepares | Who decides | Stays in your core |
|---|---|---|---|
| Submission intake | Structured fields extracted from ACORD and broker submissions, plus a list of missing required items. | Underwriting technician or underwriter | Account and submission record |
| Appetite screen | In appetite, refer, or out of appetite, citing clauses from your versioned appetite guide. | Underwriter accepts, edits, or rejects before quote work starts | Appetite guide ownership |
| Quote assist | Quote inputs gathered for the underwriter. Rating is requested from the core. | Underwriter | Rating |
| Bind readiness | A checklist of what must be complete before binding. | Underwriter | Binding and issuance |
| Mid-term changes | Review packages for endorsements, renewals, and cancellation requests. | Underwriter | Policy transactions |
If required appetite information is missing, ARIA returns refer with a deficiency list. If a prohibited characteristic would be the only basis for declining, the screen blocks and flags it. Decline communication stays with the underwriter.
Worked example: an underwriting referral
Illustrative example on synthetic data
- Account
- Pacific Coast Transport LLC (synthetic): California commercial auto with motor truck cargo, submitted by a synthetic broker
- Trigger
- New business submission routed to underwriting
- Input
- 8 heavy power units, 620-mile radius of use, and the carrier's versioned appetite guide. Written premium of $86,400 is produced by the core, not by ARIA.
- Recommendation
- Refer, not decline. The radius-eligibility and heavy-vehicle-concentration rules fired. The dump-truck hard stop did not fire.
- Human decision
- Senior underwriter: approve, approve with conditions, decline, or request information
- Resulting action
- Quote and bind continue in the core. ARIA provides the bind checklist, and the core binds.
- Evidence
- Recommendation, rules applied with citations, authority routing, and the underwriter's decision and reason
Human review and authority
Every material step is reviewed
Appetite outcome, quote, bind, endorsement, renewal, and cancellation steps each need an underwriter's decision.
Accept, edit, or reject
Edits keep both versions. Rejections need a reason, silence is not approval, and a timed-out item escalates instead of being approved.
Your authority matrix
Referral routing follows the authority levels you configure, such as senior-underwriter approval for referred risks.
Core integration
ARIA Policy reads account, submission, and quote data from your policy system and requests rating, forms, and vehicle decoding from it. It never binds or issues. To start, a carrier provides read access to policy data, its appetite guide, and its authority matrix.

Pilot measures
Example pilot measures
| Measure | Definition | Baseline source | Quality guardrail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Referral turnaround | Submission received to underwriter decision | Core timestamps | No rise in post-bind corrections |
| Manual touches | Handoffs and re-keying per submission | Workflow sample | Deficiency rate at first review |
| Recommendation agreement | Share of ARIA outcomes the underwriter accepts without edits | Shadow-mode comparison | Reasons for every edit and rejection reviewed |
